Match Report

With only 11 people to start the game it looke llike the odds were stacked against Lismore from the start. Even prompting the opposition to offer that if the match became too one-sided then they had subs who would appreciate a 'run around'. Laughing in the face of adversitiy the Lismore girls - complimented with the more mature heads of old girl trio, Rosie Traynor, Sandra Kinear and Penelope Carruthers - rose to the challenge.

The first half was a close fought affair with Lismore not letting the lack of people get them down but we did eagerly anticipate the arrival of Beenie who was held up in traffic on the M8 and she duly did just before half time. At the half-time whistle the scores remained close throughout with Edinburgh University edging ahead by 3 scores and a conversion at half time.

With the number of players rising to 13 by the end of half time, thanks to Lousia Goodbrand who despite retiring recently could not watch anymore from the sidelines - luckily had her kit in the car (schoolgirl error - ed.), the 2nd half was no less of a struggle with Edinburgh University staying in the lead until the dying moments when the final score and the conversion put the Lismore girls ahead by one point. At the usual hand shake it was still unclear who had won as each side was saying unlucky to the other. Once the ref had confirmed the there was joyous rapture from the exhausted Lismore Camp and tears from Edin Uni.

Thanks to the old girls who definitley made a difference, Carla for being up for the Weekend from Down SOUUWWFF and Lousia for stepping in at the last moment and everyone else for putting in 150% effort.
